What was expected to be a straight forward outing against win-less Northland became much more difficult as wet and windy conditions forced our Makos to fight hard for a 33 – 23 victory against a dogged, committed Taniwha team.

21 years of age, Mitchell played Super Rugby for the first time in 2016 at either fullback or first five-eighth for the Crusaders. He made the Nelson College First XV in year 11 and notched up 51 appearances.

Just last year Tima Faingaanuku was playing at fullback or wing for Nelson College 1st XV. Now he finds himself on the right wing for the Tasman Makos, a fast track by any standards. Big, strong and fast, he showed his ability with a strong finish to score over the top of a couple of defenders against Canterbury.
