Mitch played for Nelson College then played for NZ Under 20's and Auckland in 2015. He moved home to represent the Mako from 2016, and has made the first-five position his own and is the team's main goal kicker (his 562 points second highest in Mako history). Mitch ran the cutter in the victorious 2019 and 2020 NPC Premiership campaigns.

In 2021 Mitch co-captained the Tasman Mako alongside Quinten Strange, playing in 10 matches and scoring 123 points. He played for Crusaders from 2016 to 2019 and since 2020 plays for the Highlanders. A neck injury sustained during the tail end of Super Rugby ruled Mitch out of playing any matches for the Mako in 2022.
