A Motueka born and bred prop for Kahurangi, Luca was named in the 2021 New Zealand Under 20 squad.

He was then named in the Tasman Mako squad for the 2021 NPC. Luca made his debut for the Mako, coming off the bench in Round 3 against Northland going on to play in 8 matches including the Final. He was subsequently named in the Highlanders squad as a late signing for the 2022 Super Rugby season, making his debut against the Waratahs. Injury limited Luca to just 5 games for the Mako in 2022.
