2021 Farah Palmer Cup

Captain: Jess Foster / Sui Pauaraisa

Coach: Mel Bosman

Asst. Coaches: Daniel Hobbs, Billy Guyton

Five games for five losses were a repeat of the previous year’s results. The campaign commenced with optimism when scoring five tries against North Harbour in a 35-32 loss, but it was all downhill during the remaining four games during which only four tries were achieved while conceding 226 points, an average of 56 per game. The game at Motueka, against Northland, was played in miserable conditions with many large pools of water on the surface.

The best performer in the team was flanker Sui Pauaraisa from Christchurch who had played for Canterbury prior to a stint in league with NZ Warriors and representing both New Zealand and Samoa at test level as well as captaining the Samoa Sevens team. Another former Canterbury player, Bunty Crowe, was brought into the team for the final game. Crowe had also represented New Zealand at league.

Two of a set of triplets made their debuts for Tasman, both on loan from Canterbury. Erana and Jamee Te Moananui appeared at prop. The third triplet, Chloe, represented Wellington Pride.

The promising newcomers at fullback Eleri James-Sitters and No. 8 Jess Harvie displayed form which resulted in the young pair being included in a High-Performance Development squad to go into camp early 2022.
