Fijian born, Sevu hails from Hamilton Boys HS and Waikato having played 33 games for the Mooloos.

He joined the Crusaders in 2019 and his outstanding play earned him an All Blacks (#1182) cap and a place in the 2019 Rugby World Cup squad and has subsequently played in 20 Tests. He was drawn to play for Tasman by the good words about the team and region by his Crusaders teammates, earning 3 caps and including a hat-trick against Northland. Sevu was released by the NZ selectors to play a further 3 matches for the Mako in 2022.
